Topic & Speaker:	Vist to H.M. Frigate Unicorn

Launched on 30 March 1824 at Chatham Naval Dockyard, HM Frigate Unicorn is one of the oldest ships in the world and the only wooden warship in Scotland. Used as a powder hulk then a drill ship at Dundee from 1873, HMS Unicorn served as the area headquarters of the Senior Naval Officer, Dundee during both World wars. Renamed Crecy to allow an aircraft carrier to carry the name Unicorn, the ship reverted to HMS Unicorn in 1958 when the aircraft carrier was scrapped. In 1968 the HMS Unicorn Preservation Society was formed with the aim of preserving the vessel and the Navy handed the ship over in September that year. Since then much work has been undertaken to restore the vessel to its previous state and it is today moored in Victoria Dock Dundee where it is a popular visitor attraction.

Topic & Speaker:	"Transport: the gift to newshounds that keeps on giving" by Dalton Alastair Dalton, transport correspondent of The Scotsman

Alastair Dalton is Scotland's leading transport correspondent, writing for both The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, reporting news and also reflecting in his regular Inside Transport column on the state of our transport networks. There he recently listed bus, air and car as his least favourite modes, with rail in the middle and his preferred modes for at least local journeys as walking and especially electric bikes. The conflict at local level between cyclists, motorists and pedestrians over allocation of roadspace has attracted his attention, and he has also observed the ability of especially the rail industry to shoot itself in the foot.
